Authorities mentioned they were notified by a man who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior representative commented the incident rendered him without words and had to be resolved promptly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
